In the midst of one of the world’s most dynamic tech events, GITEX Global, AMD decided to elevate the dialogue around AI, from high-level concepts to hands-on immersion. At an exclusive gala dinner hosted in one of Dubai’s most prestigious hotels for C-level leaders from across the region and the world, they staged a bold, real-time showcase of what AI can already do today when powered by the right hardware, creating an unforgettable moment that captured the role of AMD’s technologies in fueling the next wave of intelligent systems.
To spark that moment, AMD unveiled a full-body AI avatar of their METAP General Manager, created together with RAVATAR and deployed at the event as a fully responsive holographic presence. The executive’s digital twin delivered a live appearance and spontaneous conversation that blurred the line between physical presence and virtual identity. Set against the backdrop of an ultra-premium Dubai venue, this activation redefined how AI can be presented to decision-makers who are shaping the digital strategies of tomorrow.

Live Avatar Showcase at a Premium Dubai Venue
The AMD GITEX Reception was designed as an exclusive, high-touch gathering to connect with senior technology and business executives in a relaxed yet curated setting, and is held annually alongside the main GITEX event at one of Dubai’s top-tier luxury hotels. Every year, it brings together influential figures from major corporations across the Middle East, Africa, and beyond, as well as select international guests visiting for GITEX.
For the 2025 edition of the reception, AMD chose to shift the spotlight from slides and specification blocks to an on-spot presentation of a conversational AI avatar running on AMD computing hardware. This gave the audience a direct, grounded experience of human-facing AI in action, shaped by AMD technology, practical rather than abstract and reactive rather than scripted. For many guests coming off a day of back-to-back sessions at GITEX, it set a different rhythm, closer to a private lab moment than to a formal keynote.
AI Executive Twin Powered by AMD: EPYC and Radeon in Real-Time Interaction
Central to the experience was the live appearance of a hyper-realistic AI avatar, a digital twin of Zaid Ghattas, AMD’s General Manager for METAP, developed by the RAVATAR team. The avatar was not just a visual likeness but a fully interactive entity, drawing from a curated knowledge base that combined AMD’s technical expertise with Microsoft Copilot’s conversational intelligence.
The avatar’s performance was underpinned by AMD’s own cutting-edge hardware: the server-grade EPYC™ processor line and Radeon™ graphics family. This showcase was a powerful demonstration of AMD technology driving advanced AI applications in real-time.
One of the evening’s highlights was a dynamic live conversation between Zaid Ghattas and his digital counterpart. The two engaged in a thought-provoking discussion on the evolving role of AI in business and society, while subtly highlighting how AMD’s technology stack is accelerating these advancements.
The avatar also stepped off the virtual stage, interacting spontaneously with attendees, answering questions, and customizing its responses in the moment. This layer of guest interaction turned the presentation into a memorable, high-impact demonstration of AI avatars confidently taking on roles in executive communication, brand representation, and live events. Rather than replacing the human presence, the avatar extended it, offering a glimpse of how AI and digital humans can enhance visibility and interaction at scale without losing authenticity.
